BRIGHOUSE, UK - All eyes will be on the famous old club, Brighouse Rangers on 17th December when it will play host to the mouth-watering clash with the Toronto Wolfpack Select team at 1.30pm.
Wolfpack Rookies take on Rangers
This really will be a day of destiny for the final 20 trialists looking to join the Wolfpack. They have come from Canada, America and Jamaica; through a challenging process as part of the docu-series, Last Tackle, and with only 5 places up for grabs, are ready to stake their claim for a permanent place in the 2017 Wolfpack squad.
Brighouse Rangers also have all to play for and will be blooding several of their most promising rising stars of the Club as they too seek to start their own rugby league journeys.
A day of Canadian enthused family fun has been planned for the crowd, which is expected to be the largest for many years at Russell Way Ground. Presentations are planned for the Director of Rugby, Brian Noble and Head Coach, Paul Rowley to all juniors of the Brighouse club.
Brian Noble, the Wolfpack’s Director of Rugby enthused,
“There’s a lot of talent going to be on show here; these guys are hungry and have made huge sacrifices to get to the trials. Some of them have had difficult up-bringings, but rugby league can take them out of a circle of violence and give them a new focus.
We often talk here in the game about developing new talent opportunities globally and looking at the huge quality of all of these guys who will be playing that day I’m sure the fans attending the game will appreciate their skills and fantastic physical/athletic attributes”
Brighouse Rangers Chairman Paul Sweeney said,
“The day is going to be a great family event for all our members and community of Brighouse and we will open our doors to the whole town who are all very welcome to pop down and support this fantastic event. Although the Wolfpack players have been training here for a few weeks now, we feel it would be great if the community of Brighouse could welcome our international visitors to the town in what will be a huge test for them all as they pursue their rugby league dream.
We are also greatly looking forward to seeing some of our most promising youngsters at the Club pitting their wits against these guys. We are really proud as a Club of how we nurture young talent in the game and this will be on show for all to see, in a game we are all really looking forward to.
This will be an exciting time for all at the club, we will be entering the forthcoming men’s summer league in 2017 supported by the Wolfpack and any promising youngsters are always welcome at the Club, so it would be good to meet with anyone who is interested at the game on Saturday
We are expecting a significant turnout so if you could confirm your attendance with Martin Vickers as soon as possible for the game-day itself on the 17th December.
We will be holding an open training session and interviews with members of the Select side on Wednesday 14th December at 10.00am at the Brighouse Rangers ground.
Brian Noble and Paul Rowley will also be available for interviews at that time.
Please confirm your attendance for this event via email at: Martin@Torontowolfpack.com
